claudio casale

Born in 1986 in Rome, Italy, Claudio graduated in Business Administration before moving to Asia, where he lived in-between India and Southeast Asia and began shooting documentaries.

Back in Rome, he gradually leaned toward directing and in 2017 he released Piccolo Mondo Cane, his first independent documentary. During that same year, he moved to New York to join a directing course at the New York Film Academy.

In 2018, he released the short film My Tyson, produced by Magda Film with the support of MiBACT and distributed by Zen Movie. My Tyson premiered during the 75th Venice International Film Festival where it received the MigrArti best documentary award. My Tyson went on to be included among the five nominees for the prestigious Nastri d’Argento Corto Doc and received many other awards at both Italian and international festivals.

In late 2018, Claudio winned the pitch development contest Fare un Film by Marechiaro Film, he received a scholarship by Terre di Cinema to direct a short in 35mm Kodak film and co-founded the production company Sibilla Film with Viola Brancatella.

In 2019, the preparation of the web series La linea meridiana begins, produced by Sibilla Film with the support of MiBACT. Also, in the same year, Claudio returned to India after eight years to shoot a 360° documentary and a traditional short film.

In 2020, the documentary Om Devi: Sheroes Revolution is in the Official Selection at the 77th Venice International Film Festival in the Venice VR Expanded section.
